Water and Air Quality Issues Continue to Increase


As the nation works to return to some kind of normalcy it should come as no surprise that there are many kinds of construction and infrastructure projects needed. From floods in Louisiana who are dealing with structural damage from hurricane Laura to the families and businesses who are dealing with complete devastation from the fires in the states of California, Oregon, and Washington, the need for new building will be substantial.
Before any of these projects can begin, of course, there is much clean up that is needed. At the heart of some of the heaviest work that must be done is the removal of broken concrete and damaged roads. Safe Drinking Water Is Often an Issue in Natural Disasters
In addition to the rebuilding that will be needed in many communities during the coming months, there is also a continuing concern about the safety of the water in many places. Even in locations where natural disasters have not recently occurred, many communities are put in danger when the source of the water they drink is compromised. From the concrete aqueducts that help move used water to cleaning facilities to the latest and best containment products that allow for the safe keeping of potable water, there are many ways that health and safety can be monitored. Without updates to water tank liners and corrosion resistant tank linings, however, there are many communities that are at risk in this nation. Did you know, for instance, that 100% of water tanks containing water for human consumption require protective coatings and linings? And while many of these linings are unnoticed by the general public. In its most simple definition, potable water is water that is safe to drink. Without access to this safe water, of course, many people cannot live the kind of quality life that so many desire. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) now maintains a list of 140 chemicals that when stored in large enough quantities require owners to submit a “risk management plan” to federal regulators. Any variance from this standard puts others at risk.

Labeled as non potable water, people are aware when water is not safe for human consumption. Too often, however, the potable water what people have access to not as safe as it should be. How safe is the water that your family uses? If you have recently been hit by a natural disaster then you may be aware of the water quality issues in your area. Even if you have not had a recent major weather event, however, there is a chance that the water that your family uses has quality issues. Without carefully detailed monitoring systems many people are put at risk by the water they drink. Without the right kind of liners, dangerous liquid chemicals can leach into the soil and eventually make their way to essential water sources.

The nation as a whole is dealing with many new disasters and threats, but it is also important to realize that the safety of your family or an entire community may be at risk outside of these current health and weather events. The very water that your family uses for drinking, bathing, and cooking may not be as safe as it should be. Demanding that local water sources are properly monitored is important.
