A commercial electrician provides electrical services to businesses. They can be specialized in certain types of electrical appliances in specific industries, or handle a large variety of work. This video explains what it’s like to work as a commercial electrician on a day-to-day basis.
In this video, the electrician needs to make sure that the electrical outlets in a building with a childcare center are tamper-proof. The city the electrician is located in requires outlets that are placed within five feet of the floor to be tamper-proof if little kids are going to be running around.
The electrician gets his tamper-proof outlets and places them on the ground next to all of the outlets he will need to change. This way, he isn’t lugging around extra equipment and he has a good mental map of where he needs to go in the building to replace the outlets.
The electrician then puts in a circuit tracer in one of the outlets and goes to the circuit breaker to turn off the power to that specific outlet. This means the outlet is safe to work on. He removes the cover and puts in the tamper-proof outlet.
